Integrated Program on Organ Donation
Welcome to IPOD PDF print email

IPOD-Officers-200Integrated Program on Organ Donation or IPOD is a non-stock, non-profit organ retrieval service provider with office address at #1142 Quezon Avenue, Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City. The organization was SEC registered on June 18, 2009.

IPOD was organized in response to the growing disparity between living and deceased donation. According to the Philippine Renal Disease Registry Report for 2008, 97% came from living donors. The Philippines has only averaged 15 deceased organ donors each year from 1999 to 2007. The report also revealed that 10,000 to 12,000 Filipinos develop end stage renal disease, half of which are eligible for kidney transplant. Out of 5,000 patients eligible for kidney transplant, less than 10 percent actually undergo surgery because of insufficient organ supply.

Clearly, Karen May Abu is far from being your ordinary twenty-something. And you’re half right.
